Before applying for a license the applicant is required publish a notice of intention in two daily newspapers and to display such notice in a prominent place on the premises where the business is intended to be carried out. Furthermore, the notice should:
• Specify the name and address of applicant
• If the applicant is a Company or Partnership, include names and addresses of the Directors or Partners.
• Specify the situation of the premises
• Specify the class of activity proposed to be carried out. The notice of intention should be published and displayed not less than twenty-one days prior to the date of application.
Applicant Eligibility The applicant must:
a) Be not less than twenty-five years of age;
b) Be of good moral character; and
c) Have:
I. Not less than six years experience in an activity which includes the management of human resources; or
II. Not less than three years’ experience in an activity which includes the management of human resources and be in possession of a University degree or diploma in a field which, in the opinion of the Director, is relevant to the management of an employment agency or employment business.
All applicants are to fill in the prescribed application form, which can be obtained from the Department of Industrial and Employment Relations or downloaded from here. The application form has to be accompanied with the required documentation as indicated hereunder. The application form includes a declaration to be signed by the applicant confirming that s/he had complied with the provisions laid down in the Employment and Training Services Act.
Documents to accompany the application form
• Copy of the notice of intention;
• Copy of the newspaper adverts;
• Curriculum vitae of the person who is to manage the employment agency; and
• Recent police conduct certificate of the applicant and of the person who is to mange the agency (if the person who is to mange the employment agency is different from the applicant)
